When learning how to make a website, besides looking for the best website software and creating a great website design, getting traffic is a cumbersome task for many.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO), the process of getting websites to rank on page 1 of Google usually gets the best kind of website traffic, that, which is from the search engines, is targeted and buys. However, you cannot rely solely on search engines for your website traffic.

SEO is more of a long term goal and while working on that, which is primarily compromised of building links from other sites to yours, here are some great ways to get traffic immediately after making your website.

2. Online Classifieds – These sites are great because people are there looking for something, so the chances for conversions greatly increase.

Just search Google for “your niche forum.” Make sure that they allow a link to your site in the signature, sometimes they make you wait until you have a certain amount of posts. Don’t spam, leave helpful comments and interact with the community.

I never pay for directory submission, it can get you in trouble with the Search Engines for buying links and it’s usually not worth the money. Some of them require reciprocal links, this too is not so great, all though for some of the directories it is worth it. Best thing is to find good one way link directories and make sure to use your sitewide keywords in the anchor text of the links.
